FAQ

What is a Bachelor of Science in Legal Studies?

Used as a stand-alone degree, or as a stepping-stone for entry into many graduate programs, the 120-credit Bachelor of Science in Legal Studies degree prepares students for a career in paralegal, compliance, or as a legal professional. It is also used to gain entry into a wide array of graduate programs, including our Master’s in Business Administration, as well as a Master’s in Legal Studies and Compliance Law, and prestigious law schools.

Which college have you partnered with to offer this degree?

We are proud to have partnered with National Paralegal College, a division of Crestpoint University. For more than two decades, NPC has offered legal education programs to students across the country and has earned a reputation for expertise in law and the legal profession. Its exclusive legal-research project, LawShelf Educational Media, garners more than one million visits per year from students and members of the public researching legal topics.

Why should I choose this degree?

This is an ideal choice for students who are considering a career as a paralegal, compliance officer, attorney, human resources, or other common legal professionals. This includes those who specialize in human resources law and other tasks common to almost all medium and large companies. Additionally, students seeking to work as compliance officers may wish to continue into Crestpoint University’s graduate program and earn a Master of Science degree in Compliance Law, a program accredited by the Compliance Certification Board, the United States’ premier organization in corporate compliance.

How long will it take to earn the degree?

This degree can be completed in just four semesters (16 months).

Will my seminary credits count toward this degree?

Yes. Up to 39 seminary credits may be accepted toward the degree program.

Can I attend law school after completing this degree?

When taken in conjunction with the LSAT, this degree is an excellent foundation for  law school. Graduates of this program have successfully attended numerous law schools including NYU, Cornell, Rutgers, Valparaiso, Franklin Pierce, Concord, John Marshall, Texas A&M, William Howard Taft, Belmont University, Chapman U, Abraham Lincoln, and many more.

Will the environment and education be suitable for a frum student?

Crestpoint University prides itself on offering superior education along with outstanding student support in a culturally sensitive environment. You will be dealing almost entirely with administrators from within the community who are extremely understanding of the demands and sensitivities of a frum lifestyle.

We pride ourselves on the high-quality educational institutions we partner with, all of whom offer an accredited degree, uncompromised environment, and first-rate faculty. Most of all, we provide exceptionally personalized support to every single student at Sara Schenirer. We work diligently to offer personal guidance to each student and help ensure their success and timely graduation.

What are the admission requirements?
  • High School Transcript (minimum 3.0 GPA)
  • A 3-credit College-Level English Composition or Business Writing prerequisite and a 3-credit College-Level Business Law prerequisite are required for acceptance into the program, which must be completed prior to the start of the semester. Your coordinator will notify you about how to earn these credits at your interview (if applicable).
Which credits can be applied towards the bachelor’s degree?

The Office of the Registrar at Crestpoint University grants transfer credits to students who have completed courses at accredited institutions and have provided their official transcripts for evaluation. The Office of the Registrar evaluates and accepts only credits that are applicable to the student’s program of study and reflect a final grade of ‘C’ or above. Accepted credits are applied to the student’s record, reflected on their academic planner, but not calculated into their college GPA. The transfer credit planner will also be shared with the student’s advisor to assist with schedule creation and developing a graduation plan.

When and where are classes offered?

This degree is offered through our entirely online program, Sara Schenirer Anywhere. Regardless of location, this program is available.

Students take four courses per semester of which three are live-online, and one is asynchronous. The live-online classes are held on Sunday from 9:30am to 2:00pm and one-two weeknights per week (EST).

What percentage of students graduate?

Our exceptional guidance counselors work closely with every student, enabling the vast majority of our students to graduate on schedule with all requirements completed. In addition, Crestpoint University operates with utmost flexibility, allowing students whose life gets in the way with flexible leave of absence and make-up options. We are committed to helping you complete your degree and advance your career.

What if I get married or relocate during the program?

Since the entire program is online, students can continue their education regardless of location. Additionally, credits can be transferred to colleges and universities worldwide enabling students to complete their degrees elsewhere should they choose. Relocating to Eretz Yisroel or Europe requires separate arrangements which will need to be coordinated on an individual basis.

“The curriculum was well-developed and the instructors were all experts in their field. They brought their life experiences to the classes and it made our lessons come alive. We would debate real-time situations and come up with effective solutions. After I graduated the program, I continued to email them with my questions as they came up. They were so helpful and gave me advice that was spot on!”

“The BA in Psychology was a great choice for me. I was undecided as to what field I would major in and the BA in Psychology was a safe choice for most master degree paths.
