FAQs
What is the Bachelor of Arts in Psychology - Sonography Track?
The 28-month Bachelor of Arts in Psychology – Diagnostic Medical Sonography program is the ideal pathway for pursuing an undergraduate degree along with full certification in Diagnostic Medical Sonography.
Students who graduate from this program earn full certification in medical sonography (OB/GYN or Vascular) as well as a well-respected undergraduate degree in Psychology which positions them to apply to a wide variety of graduate programs in multiple fields.
By incorporating seminary credits, this degree and certification can be completed in just twenty-eight months and consists of two phases:
1) Eight months of core psychology courses taken through Sara Schenirer/UMSV
2) Twenty months of medical sonography courses taken through CAHE
Students enjoy access to outstanding professors and save considerable time and expense through this innovative pathway. Additionally, should a student decide to pursue a graduate degree pathway in any other field, this bachelor’s degree will prove suitable for those possibilities as well.
Which university have you partnered with to offer this pathway?
We are proud to have partnered with The University of Mount Saint Vincent (UMSV), a highly ranked university featuring an outstanding undergraduate Psychology department. Among the five oldest universities in New York City, UMSV offers more than 70 nationally recognized programs, including a full array of majors and minors in the sciences and mathematics, the humanities, arts, and social sciences, and professional preparation in accounting, business, communication, education, and nursing. Your Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology is conferred by the University of Mt. St. Vincent.
The Medical Diagnostic Sonography portion is offered through the Center for Allied Health Education, a fully-accredited institution offering certification in a wide range of Clinical Diagnostic fields including sonography, radiography, paramedic training, and more. Will this degree be accepted by other universities?

Students have used the bachelor’s degree earned at UMSV for admittance into master’s programs in a wide variety of colleges. For specific information about UMSV’s accreditation, please see here.
In the event that I decide to pursue a career in something other than sonography, will this degree be useful toward graduate degrees in other fields?
Apart from the sonography training and certification, a BA in Psychology is extremely versatile and can be used to apply for a wide range of graduate degrees. Graduates of this degree program have used their degree to apply for graduate programs in fields such as education, social work, law, business management, and numerous areas in the field of medicine.
If I’m unsure whether I’m interested in pursuing a career in sonography, is this the program for me?
We will be happy to discuss your options with you to help you determine whether this program is right for you. Generally speaking, however, assuming you are leaning towards a career in sonography, this is an excellent choice because it offers an exit ramp in the event that you decide not to pursue this field once you are enrolled. Since the first two semesters of the program are dedicated to the study of psychology, you can opt to continue in that discipline and graduate with just one additional semester of psychology courses. This would allow you to pursue a wide variety of graduate fields other than sonography.
How long will it take to earn my degree?
This degree can be completed in as few as 28 months.
