Program Overview
The 16-month Bachelor of Arts in Psychology – Pre-Med Track is the ideal undergraduate pathway for pursuing a graduate degree and career in most medical-related fields. Students who graduate from this program are well-positioned to apply to graduate programs in the following fields: dental, medical, physical therapy, physician assistant, and more.
This degree is offered entirely online through a combination of synchronous and asynchronous classes through the University of Mount St. Vincent. Students are enrolled in the University of Mount St. Vincent and can apply to the graduate school of their choice.
Students wishing to pursue degrees in medical-related fields such as nursing, respiratory therapist, healthcare consultant etc, will be best served by our 11-month Bachelor of Arts in Psychology – Health Science Track which contains fewer prerequisite courses required for those programs. Information on that program is available here. Additionally, should a student decide to pursue a different master’s degree pathway in a non-medical field, this bachelor’s degree will prove suitable for those possibilities as well.

The cost of the degree is $28,000, but students who are eligible for financial aid (FAFSA) can receive scholarships to cover the cost of the courses taken at the college. Your exact tuition amount will depend on your transfer credits and financial aid eligibility.

We are proud to have partnered with The University of Mount Saint Vincent (UMSV), a highly ranked university in NYS, featuring an outstanding undergraduate Psychology department. Founded in 1847, UMSV is among the five oldest universities in New York City and offers more than 70 nationally recognized programs, including a full array of majors and minors in the sciences and mathematics, the humanities, arts, and social sciences, and professional preparation in accounting, business, communication, education, and nursing.
Will this degree be accepted by other universities?
UMSV is a regionally accredited university, which means that their degrees are accepted by all graduate programs nationwide. Students have used the bachelor’s degree earned at UMSV for admittance into master’s programs in a wide variety of colleges/ universities. What advantages does this specialized Pre-Med track offer over the standard BA in Psychology?
All common prerequisite medical-based undergraduate courses are included in this degree at no additional cost.
Does this degree program limit me at the graduate level to graduate programs in medicine, or can it be used to apply for graduate programs in other fields?
A BA in Psychology is extremely versatile and can be used to apply for a wide range of graduate degrees. Sara Schenirer graduates have used it successfully to enroll in graduate programs as diverse as Speech and Language Pathology, Law School, Genetic Counseling, Education, MBA, Social Work, and so much. Our unique medical-track, however, goes a step further and incorporates all medical prerequisite courses into the undergraduate program so that students are fully prepared to apply for graduate programs in the medical field upon graduation.
If I’m unsure whether I’m interested in the medical field, is this the program for me?
Assuming you don’t have a clear preference for another field, this is an ideal program to help a student determine his ideal graduate graduate and career pathway and whether the field of medicine is right for him. Through the course of the program, students are exposed to professionals in the medical field and have the opportunity to observe and speak with them and learn more about the various medical professions. This first-hand knowledge enables students to make a clear-headed decision when the time comes for application to graduate school.
How long will it take to earn my degree?
This degree can be completed in as few as four semesters (16 months).
