Undergraduate Policies and Procedures

ATTENDANCE:

Absence:

Sara Schenirer allows one absence per course on the undergraduate level. Missing more than one class will result in a grade drop (A to A-). Missing a third class may result in failing the course.

In extenuating circumstances that affect your attendance (high fever, a sibling’s wedding, your own wedding!…) you may contact the professor and explain the situation. Please note even if the professor granted you permission to miss the class, this does not mean there will not be a natural grade reduction because of missed classwork.

If you have a truly extenuating circumstance that is causing you to fall behind in your coursework and meet your deadlines, it is your sole responsibility to notify your coordinator immediately.

Lateness:

Two latenesses are the equivalent of one absence.

COMMUNICATION PROTOCOL:

The best way to reach us is via email. Please make sure to open and read every email that is sent to you in its entirety. It’s very important to check your emails daily.

Every professor and administrator will provide you with contact information. As is expected in a professional environment, only use the contact information provided to you by your professors and administrative staff.

Please allow for a 48-hour workday-window to receive a response when you contact a professor or staff member (this does not include weekends). Therefore, if you email a professor with a question about an assignment the night before the deadline, you will likely not receive a response before your assignment is due.

It is the student’s responsibility to be responsive to instructor correspondence in a prompt fashion. Please note, checking your spam folder and college email account will help you stay up to date. Timely communication allows us to make accommodations if possible. Please pay attention to emails from the college, Sara Schenirer, and instructors. We advise you to forward your college account emails to your personal email account to stay up to date.

PLAGIARISM:

BEWARE! We DO NOT tolerate any form of plagiarism in our school. Make sure that you understand what constitutes plagiarism, so that you don’t suffer from the consequences. Click here for details on the plagiarism regulations.

MAKE-UP EXAM POLICY:

You may not miss an exam for any reason. In case of real extenuating circumstances, please contact your professor or coordinator.

ONLINE CLASS PREPAREDNESS:

Please ensure that you have appropriate technology and internet accessibility in your home. This would include a laptop or desktop with a mic and webcam.

See here for the policies and procedures that are firmly enforced for online classes.
