Coopersmith Exam and Ampeducator Account Instructions
ALL Coopersmith exams taken through Sara Schenirer must be pre-ordered online using the instructions below.
This applies to exams taken via online or in-person proctoring.
If someone else is ordering an exam for you, please make sure that they use your date of birth, last 4 digits of your social security number and your email address in the order.
Section I: Registration
Register on the Coopersmith Website (this is necessary the first time ONLY).
Site: www.coopersmithcc.net
Click on “New student? Register here” at the top right corner.
Fill out your personal information.
For “college”, enter the name of the college you attend and Sara Schenirer (ex: UMSV/Sara Schenirer, SPU/Sara Schenirer).
When asked where to have your transcript sent to:
If you are a University of Mount Saint Vincent student, have it sent to [email protected]
If you are a Saint Peter’s University student, have it sent to [email protected]
If you are a Crestpoint University student, have it sent to [email protected]
Section II: Ordering a Coopersmith Course + Exam
Once your Coopersmith account is set up (above), you can always go directly to this link to order your exams. You will receive an instant automatic email receipt right after you order an exam.
When your order is processed, you will have access to the course/study materials as well as the exam.
If the study material references a YouTube link, you may email [email protected] for a video option that doesn’t require YouTube access.
Tip: Keep the exam name and number handy, as you will need it when scheduling your proctoring session.
Ordering your First Exam + Creating your Ampeducator Account
For the first exam your order, the process is a bit different, and takes an extra day or two.
Ordering your first exam will trigger the creation of your Ampeducator Account. “Ampeducator” is the online portal on which you will find your Coopersmith courses (study materials, exams, grades, etc.). You can expect an email from Coopersmith containing your Ampeducator Account login information within 48 hours after ordering your first exam.
Ordering subsequent exams
For all subsequent exams, if they are ordered by 2PM on a weekday, the study material will be emailed to you and the exam will appear in your Ampeducator account within 5 hours.
For exams ordered after 2 PM: the study material will be emailed and the exam will appear on Ampeducator the next business day.
For step-by-step instructions on navigating your Ampeducator account, click here.
Section III: Scheduling your Exam
To Schedule an Online Proctoring Session:
Once your order appears on Ampeducator (based on the timeframe above), schedule your online proctoring session with Sara Schenirer here.
This will allow you to schedule your exam proctoring session online, and pay the $20 proctoring fee.
You will receive an automatic confirmation email with the Zoom link once you pay for your session. If you do not receive the confirmation email (and you checked your spam folder), email [email protected] for assistance.
Please note: this email is monitored Sunday 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM (EST), Monday-Thursday 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM (EST), and Friday 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM (EST). A reply may take up to one business day, so be sure to reach out well before your proctored session.
**Do NOT click on the blue chain icon until you are in the proctored session. Failure to comply will result in an automatic failure.
Tips For Taking An Exam Online:
You may only book one exam per proctoring session.
During an exam, you may go back and forth between questions as often as you’d like. However, once you reach the last question and submit the exam, you will not be able to reopen the exam. Do not “submit” the last question until you are sure you have completed the exam.
Your grade will be emailed to you within 3 business days.
Please note, immediately after you complete the exam, the computer may grade your multiple choice answers and notify you that you may have failed the exam.
This is not necessarily true, as the long answers have not been marked at that point. If such a notification does pop up on your screen, ignore it and wait until your final grade is emailed to you.
During testing:
Cellphones are prohibited for any kind of use.
Grammarly, ChatGPT, spellcheck or any other tool may not be used.
If you have any question whether something is allowed, you must ask before using it.
If a student is found using a prohibited device or product, their test will be disqualified immediately.
Students are required to have:
A mirror (minimum 7-inch) to show surroundings. Here is a video for more information.
An updated computer (not a Smartphone, iPad, or Chromebook)
A clear webcam
A functioning microphone
A reliable internet connection
You can test your internet speed by clicking here. Ideally, the ping should be around 20.
Connect in an area with a stable strong internet. If you have the option to use a wired connection, please do. Please note, WiFi speed is affected by how many devices are running at a time. Your WiFi can appear to be strong, but if too many devices are running (Alexa, Google Home, phones.. all count) it will give you an unstable connection.
Download the Zoom App here before the session begins. This will assist with a more stable internet connection.
Please note: Students who join more than 5 minutes late will not be allowed into the session.
You will be required to share your entire computer screen (including the task bar at the bottom of your screen). Please test this out on your device prior to the session to be sure that it works for you. At the bottom of your Zoom screen, click Share Screen. Choose the picture on the top row, all the way to the left (it may be designated as “Desktop” or “Screen”).
You must CLOSE all websites, browsers, apps, tabs on your computer BEFORE coming to the session and lock your taskbar. The only windows you should have open are Ampeducator and Zoom. Please click here for a tutorial that explains how to prepare your computer before coming to Zoom. If you need additional help, please email [email protected].
You will be required to keep your microphone unmuted for the duration of the exam. Therefore, you must be in a quiet room with no background noise while taking your exam.
Make sure you have enabled the setting “Zoom Background Noise Removal > High” in your Zoom Audio Settings.
You may not exit the Zoom session until your test is submitted and the proctor gives you permission to leave. If you leave before this, you will receive a 0 on the exam.
To Take an In-Person Exam:
Even if you are taking an in-person exam, you must first order your course on the Coopersmith website using the instructions in Section II above. It must appear on Ampeducator before you come to take the exam.
There is a $20 fee for proctoring.
