Verification of Paid Experience
Students who have three years of teaching experience may apply for Professional certification upon graduation.
Professional certification requires the Verification of Paid Experience Form that is attached below. Please read the form very carefully to make sure you have the correct number of hours/days to qualify for certification.
You must have 3 years of full-time teaching experience (180 days a year) to qualify for Professional certification. Your employer(s) must sign the form before it can be submitted. Please note: each year must be filled out separately on the form (i.e. Employment Year 1, Employment Year 2, Employment Year 3).
For each year of employment, lines 1-3 must be filled out/ checked.
If you worked in a religious school (i.e. Yeshiva, Bais Yaakov), include the words “Private School” (i.e. Beth Rivkah Private School) when writing the name of the school.
The State does NOT accept assistant teaching or paraprofessional employment as appropriate teaching experience.
If you are considering working for an agency as a SEIT or SETTS provider, you must confirm with the agency that they have a contract with the City to provide services to public schools. The State does not accept instructional support service experience from agencies that deal exclusively with non-public schools.
If you worked part-time and need to indicate additional years of employment, make copies of the form and ensure that each one is fully completed.
