Maintaining an Active Status

You must register with TEACH every 5 years. You must have completed your continuing education hours (CTLE)  before registering.   

You must be in “Registered – Active” status in order to practice in an applicable school. (An applicable school is any location where you are using your NYS certification.)

If this is not the case, you can change your registration status to “inactive” by following these instructions.

When you register, you will need to answer the following questions:

• How many years did you work in an applicable school? 

• Are you exempt from the Language Acquisition requirement?
  You are not. If you have a reason to assume you are exempt, contact us.

• Attest you did all the hours or conditional?
  We do not recommend getting conditional registration. Complete your hours before registering.
