Six Credits of English (courses in Composition, Literature and Poetry are acceptable)
If you did NOT complete these credits as courses in your Undergraduate degree (i.e. you transferred English credits from a different college, from CLEP, from Coopersmith), you will need to send those official transcripts to NYSED at [email protected] as well.
For CLEP, log into your College Board account here. From the My CLEP Account menu, select Request A Transcript.)
Please note, Straighterline courses are not accepted by the State and you will need to take the Coopersmith exams instead.
If you never took English credits, you will need to take these Coopersmith exams:
– American Literature – Early America to 1900 (ENG 201) – 3 credits
– American Literature – 1900 to Present (ENG 202) – 3 credits
(If you only have 3 credits of English, you will need to take one of the Coopersmith exams above.)
To register and take Coopersmith exams, follow the instructions outlined here.
To order your Coopersmith transcript, click here to access Parchment. When you are asked to choose where to send your transcript, type “Office of Teaching Initiatives”. This should lead to the following email address: [email protected] which is the correct information.
